Dear John,

Welcome to the Climate Justice Alliance’s Fall update. Thanks for signing
up to stay in the know!

FRONTLINE INTERGENERATIONAL LEADERSHIP IS LEADING THE WAY IN THE FIGHT FOR
CLIMATE JUSTICE! Hundreds of youth from the frontlines of the climate
crisis broke through the mainstream media last month as they marched for
community-centered solutions at the #FrontlineClimateStrike, the kick off
to the 7th Climate Justice Youth Summit in Brooklyn, New York. They shared
their vision and innovative solutions for what is needed to confront the
existential threat facing our communities.

LISTEN TO THEM IN THEIR OWN WORDS IN NEWSWEEK [3] OR READ MORE ABOUT THE
FRONTLINE STRIKE IN TEEN VOGUE. [4]

From September 20-21, more than 200 young people traveled from throughout
the US, Puerto Rico and Guam to participate in the 7TH ANNUAL CLIMATE
JUSTICE YOUTH SUMMIT [5], WHICH HAS HISTORICALLY BEEN THE LARGEST GATHERING
OF YOUTH OF COLOR ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE NATION! THE INSPIRING SUMMIT
TYPICALLY BRINGS TOGETHER ABOUT 750 YOUNG PEOPLE. THIS YEAR, HOWEVER, THE
FOCUS WAS SPECIFICALLY ON THOSE YOUNG PEOPLE KNOWN FOR THEIR LEADERSHIP IN
COMMUNITIES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. ORGANIZED BY UPROSE [6] and with the
support of the Climate Justice Alliance, our youth leaders came together to
organize, strategize and to imagine and learn from each other as they
define their local, place-based strategies working toward a Just Transition
[7], away from fossil fuels and other toxic industries and toward more
regenerative and renewable economies that leave no one behind.

They brought with them the stories of their work in their communities to
combat climate change and environmental injustice while ensuring equity and
community is at the heart of all solutions. Here’s a recap and interviews
with many of them from BET! [8]
