Friend: When a disaster strikes, nurses working with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are among the first people on the scene to provide lifesaving care. Shortly after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hala Hussein, an MSF nurse, and her team arrived in Lebanon’s Burj Al-Barajneh refugee camp to provide training in infection prevention measures for people most at risk.
Despite the fear and uncertainty that came to define the early months of 2020, Hala, who was born and raised in the camp, didn’t hesitate to step up for her friends and neighbors. Her courage and resilience are a powerful reminder of the lifesaving impact MSF nurses make in communities around the world every day.
Between COVID-19 and the many crises our teams were already responding to before the pandemic, MSF nurses face enormous challenges caring for patients in the places we work around the world. In addition to emergency care for COVID-19, a gift from you right now could help our nurses dispense lifesaving vaccinations, deliver health babies, and provide other essential health services in more than 70 countries around the world.
