This week I joined my colleagues in the House in voting to establish an independent commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

I was disappointed to see 175 of my Republican colleagues vote against this bill while continuing to spread conspiracy theories about voter fraud to justify their actions. Now Mitch McConnell is organizing Republicans to block the bill in the Senate.

We urgently need an independent investigation to get to the bottom of what led to the violent insurrection and to make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Mitch McConnell's obstruction is a threat to our democracy (once again), and it's time for our leaders to put country over party.
