I hate sending emails like this. Truth be told, I’d prefer not to have to raise money for our campaign at all.

The reality is that I’m one of the most vulnerable Democrats up for re-election and Republicans are already doing everything they can to flip this seat -- and the Senate majority. They’re running ads attacking me and Mitch McConnell is personally taking an interest in our race.

The best way for us to hold this seat and continue fighting for issues like reproductive rights, voting rights, and combating climate change is to show our fundraising strength now. And the more money we raise from emails like this one, the fewer emails I have to send.

You’re one of my most valued supporters and I could really use your help. Will you please donate $5 or more to protect our vulnerable Senate seat and our fragile Democratic majority? I’d like to raise $10,000 before midnight, so anything you can give helps and is appreciated.

I won’t sugarcoat it: we have some tough fights ahead. But I’ve never been one to back down and I know that with you standing with me, we can tackle them together.
