John,
The white supremacist insurrectionists who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6th were aiming to violently overturn the presidential election results.
Yet, nearly five months later, we still know very little about what led to the attack — and Republicans in Congress want to keep it that way. They're hoping to protect their own members who they very well know could be personally implicated.
The House passed a bipartisan bill this week to create an independent 9/11-style commission to investigate the events on and leading up to January 6th. But reports today suggest that Senate Republicans are preparing to use the filibuster for the first time since Joe Biden was elected in order to kill the commission next week.1
Democrats need to use the majority that working people gave them at the polls to tackle the overlapping crises we continue to face — and that starts with protecting our democracy. Will you add your name to our petition calling on Senate Democrats to immediately abolish the filibuster?

In January, over 100,000 Working Families Party activists joined our call on Congress to investigate the security response on January 6th and expel Republican members of Congress who aided the insurrection.
Let's be very clear about this: Democrats cannot and will not advance any accountability, civil rights, or social justice legislation with the filibuster in place. Inaction is not an option.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
