Many of us watched in horror as an angry mob of Trump supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, and since then we’ve been left with unanswered questions about how this could have happened, who is responsible, and what can be done to hold those involved accountable.
The U.S. House just this week passed legislation that would create a 9/11-style commission to get answers to these very questions – so that we can prevent a similar attack from ever happening again – but appallingly, Republican leaders in Congress have announced their opposition to it.
The Senate MUST pass this legislation to create the commission, and we’ve launched a new video to help pressure the Senate to act!
The events that day were truly horrifying, and while individual seditionists have been arrested and are facing trial for their actions that day, not enough has been done to determine who is responsible for organizing and inciting the violence, and the failure to quickly deescalate and detain those who breached the Capitol grounds.
The truth is there are some members of Congress who would prefer that this evidence never comes to light, but we must demand that a thorough investigation takes place and we must demand that the findings are released publicly.
