Friend,
In a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, 18 Republican Attorneys General are supporting Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban in the Supreme Court – threatening everyone’s reproductive rights, especially BIPOC and low-income folks.
In 2019, DAGA became the first Democratic Party committee to make this pledge: We will only endorse candidates who publicly support protecting reproductive rights, including access to abortion.
The result? An entire class of Dem AGs who are outspoken champions for our reproductive freedoms, who understand the dangers of Republican efforts to abolish abortion access – and who will fight back with everything they’ve got.
When the Trump administration attempted to cut funding for abortion providers like Planned Parenthood through a “gag rule,” 21 Dem AGs sued Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services and won preliminary injunctions from multiple federal judges.
When a Louisiana abortion clinic came under attack, 22 Dem AGs signed onto a brief in their defense – with the Supreme Court ultimately reversing Louisiana’s abortion restriction law.
And when Tennessee Republicans tried to ban all abortion procedures in the state during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dem AGs filed in support of abortion rights activists.
Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
