Dear John,

Starting this weekend, anti-abortion extremists are gathering in Raleigh in support of a bill in the North Carolina General Assembly that could severely restrict abortion access in the state and impose the death penalty on abortion providers. [1, 2] Outgoing Operation Save America leader Rusty Thomas will be present, along with a state elected official, Rep. Larry Pittman (R – 83rd District). [3, 4]

Rusty Thomas has a history of advocating for murder charges against those who have abortions, and calling for abortion providers to be executed, [5] and other leaders in his organization have ramped up violent rhetoric, even participating in the white supremacist coup attempt at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. [6, 7]

‘Big Pro Life’ is pro-violence. That’s just a fact. We can’t let this treachery against our communities stand, let alone with an elected representative condoning these dangerous and disturbing beliefs.
