Friend,

Mad knows that clean water is a non-negotiable right and has continually fought to protect communities exposed to toxic PFAS chemicals. Her latest legislation, co-authored with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will allow people exposed to these chemicals to seek costs associated with regular medical monitoring in order to detect health problems associated.

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are man-made chemicals resistant to heat, water, and oil that persist in the environment and the human body. They have also been linked to cancer and other life threatening diseases.

For many in PA-04, PFAS chemicals have leached into the groundwater from a firefighting foam used at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Willow Grove, contaminating the water and leading Aqua Pennsylvania to shut down its wells in Horsham.

We deserve safe, clean drinking water. Add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of Mad's legislation if you agree. [[link removed]]

The diseases linked to PFAS exposure — cancer, reproductive and immune system harm, and more — can take years to develop. Allowing people who have been exposed to PFAS to sue for the cost of medical monitoring is critical to securing justice for these victims.

The bill would also allow courts to force manufacturers to fund research on the health effects of PFAS. Research on the health implications of PFAS is vital to saving lives — and accountability is necessary for healing and justice. No parent should have to worry about a child’s exposure to dangerous toxins in their water.

It’s long past time for us to hold polluters accountable and help those affected by PFAS to get the justice they deserve. Add your name as a co-sponsor if you agree. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Team Dean
