John,
On January 6th, Donald Trump’s lies incited a riot that violently broke into the U.S. Capitol and left a trail of injury, destruction, and death.
In the immediate aftermath, Americans were united in horror at the images coming from the Capitol. Some of Trump’s most steadfast Republican supporters were shaken. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham affirmed the election results on the Senate floor, and decried Trump’s lies. Facebook and Twitter responded by banning Trump from their platforms.
But now, after only a few months, in some corners it’s like the insurrection never happened. McConnell has refused to cooperate with even a bipartisan congressional investigation. And Facebook is considering letting Trump post again.
Tell Facebook: Make Donald Trump’s ban permanent!
Before the election, Trump was spending more than a million dollars a week on Facebook ads targeting seniors with lies about Social Security and Medicare. His supporters organized the riot in ‘Stop the Steal’ Facebook groups that were explicitly endorsed by Trump’s page. Trump isn’t sorry, and he won’t do anything different if he’s allowed back on.
Social Security only works if we have a society. Donald Trump wants to tear our society apart.
While Twitter has announced that Trump’s ban is permanent, Facebook is making a decision right now about whether Trump should be allowed back on, or banned permanently. Without pressure, they’ll be happy to cash Trump’s checks once again and spread his Big Lie.
Tell Facebook: Ban Donald Trump’s account permanently!
Thanks,
