John,
President Biden has said from the start that he wants to pass a jobs and infrastructure bill with bipartisan support. The problem is that Republican infrastructure plans aren’t serious plans.
Instead of raising taxes on corporations, Republicans propose paying for their infrastructure plan through so-called “user fees” such as toll roads or a gas tax, which disproportionately impact low- and middle-income Americans.
We’re building national support for President Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan―providing the American people with concrete examples of how the president wants to invest in our future and level the economic playing field by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share. By comparison, the Senate Republican plan would provide a measly $568 billion at last count―a drop in the bucket of what is needed.[1]
Donate today to help bring our latest graphic below to millions of people and build support for a comprehensive infrastructure plan that creates millions of good-paying jobs, invests in clean energy, broadband, schools and more.
By opposing the Biden jobs and infrastructure plan, Republicans want to remove $355 billion in funding for clean energy; negate $137 billion to upgrade and build new public schools; cut $400 billion for home and community based care; and strip out $580 billion in research and development, manufacturing, and job training.[2]
Bipartisan support is a great idea. But not when the infrastructure plan substitutes tax increases on corporations with user fees, such as a gas tax, on working people―as the Republican plan would do.
Donate today to bring our latest graphic to millions of people, build massive support for President Biden’s tax and investment plans, and remind the American people that the Republican infrastructure plan is nothing more than a tax hike on low- and middle-income families.
