May has been an exciting month for the entire Golden family! The biggest news came when Jared and his wife Izzy welcomed their first child, a baby girl, into the world.

In addition to this big news, we wanted to keep you updated on what Jared has been up to since our last newsletter.

LEADING THE FIGHT TO EXPAND MEDICARE:
Jared has been leading the charge on Capitol Hill to push President Biden to propose lowering the eligibility age of Medicare and expanding the program to cover vision, dental, and hearing care. This common sense change would provide crucial health care services to Mainers who lack access to adequate health care, and expand Medicare programs to nearly 23 million Americans across the country.

FIGHTING FOR LOWER DRUG PRICES:
In Congress, Jared has fought to make medication more affordable for everyday Americans. But now, a dark money group funded by Big Pharma is running misleading ads in our district attacking Jared for supporting H.R. 3, the Elijah Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act. FIGHTING FOR RURAL SMALL BUSINESSES:
Jared worked across the aisle to introduce the bipartisan Disaster Assistance for Rural Small Businesses Act. If enacted, this bill would ensure that small businesses in rural areas, including those in Maine, can more easily access disaster relief and resources from the federal government.

SUPPORTING MAINE LOGGING CAREERS:
Logging is a family tradition in our state, which is why Jared sponsored the bipartisan, bicameral Future Logging Careers Act, which would allow small logging businesses to train 16- and 17-year-old family members for futures in Maine’s forest products industry.

WORKING TO BAN CORPORATE PAC SPENDING:
In 2020, corporate PACs spent over $400 million to influence our elections. Jared believes our government should be responsive to the people, not corporate special interests, which is why he introduced the Ban Corporate PAC Act to ban spending by corporate political action committees.
