Florida House Passes Rep. Learned's Amendment

This week the Florida Legislature was back in Tallahassee for a special session to address the state's gaming compact with the Seminole Tribe. The new agreement is far from perfect, but I was successful in getting an amendment added to prevent fraudsters from serving on the gaming oversight commission.

Democrats Support America's Working Families

Great news! The Democratic Party continues to deliver for America's working families. Thanks to President Biden's American Rescue Plan, more than 39 million families will begin receiving monthly child tax credit payments. Starting in July, families will get monthly direct payments of up to $300 for each child under 6 years old and up to $250 for each child 6 to 17 years old. The program will allow families more flexibility in budgeting, cut childhood poverty in half, and support economic growth. Click here to learn more. [[link removed]]

The American Rescue Plan also made a historic $39 billion investment in child care programs. As you know, the lack of affordable child care is a significant challenge for many working families, often wreaking havoc on the family budget and preventing parents from entering the workforce. In Florida, the funding will be used to support child care centers across the state and encourage new facilities to open. Click here to learn more. [[link removed]]

As lawmakers, it's essential that we support families. I want to thank the Biden Administration and Democrats in Congress for prioritizing their needs.
