Friend,

Frightening news: The right wing's coordinated attack on women's reproductive freedom has made it all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. The New York Times reports that the justices have chosen to hear a case on Mississippi's extremist abortion ban this fall. The outcome of the case could put millions of women and their constitutional rights at risk.

If the Court's 6-3 conservative majority upholds this abortion ban, it will fundamentally undermine Roe v. Wade – flying in the face of 50 years of Supreme Court precedent and putting the rights and lives of countless women in jeopardy across the country.

But this isn't a time for panic alone – it's a time for action. That's why I'm re-introducing a bill – The Women's Health Protection Act - that will protect Americans' access to safe and legal abortion, no matter what the Supreme Court rules in the Mississippi case. We're going to need a groundswell of grassroots support to get the Women's Health Protection Act across the finish line, so I'm asking for your support right now.

I'm counting on 500 people – including you, Friend – to sign my petition urging Congress to protect women's constitutional right to reproductive healthcare before midnight. In the face of an impending Supreme Court ruling, Congressional action has never been more urgent, so please: Add your voice now!

Make no mistake: We simply cannot go back to a time when the government controlled people's personal decisions about whether and when to have a child.

We can't go back to an America that – by banning abortion – drove it underground and made vital healthcare services unsafe and illegal.

We can't go back to an America where the rich can get needed care, but the rest of the country cannot.

We can't go back. That's why we must pass the Women's Health Protection Act to prevent states from denying access to safe and legal abortion – like Mississippi did with its radical abortion ban – and guarantee reproductive freedom everywhere in America, no matter your ZIP code. Because if the Court permits Mississippi to strip this personal right away, what right will be taken next?

In moments like this, it's up to each of us to not just take a stand – but to battle. I will be on the front lines to protect women's access to comprehensive healthcare, but I need you with me.

So I'll ask one last time: Please, sign my petition now demanding that Congress defend women's reproductive rights and protect access to safe and legal abortion.
