Today is the anniversary of the House granting women the right to vote, but we all know Black, brown, and Indigenous people didn't gain that right until the ratification of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
16,879 days. That's how much longer Black and brown Americans had to fight for the right to vote after the House passed the 19th Amendment in 1919.
Now, decades later, we are still defending our right to vote in a free and fair election. And after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in 2013, our fight has only grown more high stakes.
We launched Collective Future's Vote To Live campaign to stop politicians from blocking our access to the voting booth. On today's anniversary, we're calling on Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965 by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act immediately. To join our efforts sign the petition now ?
Friend, we are standing on the shoulders of the countless Black Americans who organized, marched, and died for the right to vote. Thank you for fighting with us.
Onward,
