We all remember the shock and fear we felt on January 6, watching Trump-supporting rioters defile the halls of the Capitol, risk the lives of our Representatives, and ultimately take the lives of multiple people, including Capitol police officers.
The attack transcended politics. It was an attack on one of the most important buildings in our democracy and on the people who dedicate their lives to serving us.
Now, my opponent and most of her Republican colleagues are trying to revise history and wipe away this attack by voting against the independent commission that will look into exactly what happened on January 6.
Let me repeat that: Steel voted against even having the insurrection investigated . An investigation seems like the most basic step we could possibly take in an attack of this scale.
Let's be clear: GOP leader Kevin McCarthy demanded the commission be independent, and Democratic leadership agreed. Then, he changed their caucus votes out of fear of what the commission would find and how that would affect the midterms.
We can't give Michelle Steel another two years to squash democracy and stifle the truth for the sake of her political future. So, I've got to ask you: can you chip in a few dollars to help me unseat Michelle Steel? [[link removed]]

Harley Rouda served California's 48th district in Congress. In 2018, Harley defeated the 30-year incumbent Dana Rohrabacher in the very first political campaign of Harley's life. During his time in Congress, he's embraced common sense and values to tackle climate change, address deteriorating infrastructure, confront homelessness, and protect Social Security and Medicare. In 2022, Harley will be facing one of the toughest fights in the entire country, so he's depending on the support of grassroots individuals.
