Republicans have spent the months since Democrats won the White House and the Senate trying to use voter suppression to steal back power.

That is why I worked with my fellow Democrats in the House to fight back by passing the For the People Act to protect the right to vote.

Knowing that Republicans are desperate to silence voters, I even added an amendment to the For the People Act — cosponsored by my Georgia colleagues — to directly counter Republican voter suppression efforts in our state and across the country.

My amendment will ensure dropboxes are easily accessible to all Americans, safeguard access to absentee ballots, and promote voter registration efforts. I call it common sense, but these Republicans think otherwise.

Here in Georgia, we have seen firsthand what happens when voters are given ample time, opportunities, and resources to cast their ballot. In 2020, working parents, busy college students, and everyone in between came out in record numbers. It turns out when folks vote, Democrats win in Georgia. I was the only Democrat to flip a competitive red district blue, Biden flipped the state, and we did it again in January when voters across the state showed up to the polls and elected Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

Now, I am one of the GOP’s top targets in 2022. Extremist conversative groups have already spent over $400,000 on ads attacking me, and they are just getting started. They know they cannot beat me at the polls and they are desperate to win back the majority. So they are working overtime to dismantle our democracy and our sacred right to vote.
