Yesterday, the House passed legislation to establish a bipartisan commission that would investigate the January 6 insurrection. Yet the overwhelming majority of House Republicans voted against this, and Mitch McConnell is now working to block it in the Senate.

It's utterly outrageous that anyone would stand in the way of getting answers about an attack on our democracy that was incited by a president. But for Republicans in 2021, loyalty to Trump will always come before loyalty to truth.

The GOP thinks that if they block a fact-finding commission, they can sweep January 6 under the rug. They want their shameful role in enabling Trump to be forgotten. And they hope they can exploit Trump's lies about the election to pass voter suppression laws and boost their chances for 2022.

We must do all we can to prove the GOP wrong. That means mobilizing today to help Democrats hold the House.
