John,

Instead of taking real action to expand Medicaid, Kansas Republicans passed a "junk insurance" bill that wouldn't actually cover pre-existing conditions or provide consumer protections, putting Kansas families at risk of going bankrupt over medical bills.

That's why today, Laura vetoed that legislation. She understands that the only way to ensure Kansans get the healthcare they deserve is through Medicaid expansion.

Expanding Medicaid is not only the right thing to do, it's also practical. In fact, if Medicaid expansion had been passed in Kansas this legislative session, here's what we would have seen:

* New jobs;
* Access to affordable healthcare for thousands of Kansas families;
* New business opportunities for Kansas;
* Help for rural hospitals;
* More than $450 million in federal funds.

Expanding Medicaid has always been Laura's top priority, but Kansas Republicans continue to block making healthcare more affordable for all Kansans. Laura will continue to fight any legislation that plays political games with the health and wellbeing of Kansans.

If you agree that Kansas should join the 38 other states that have already passed Medicaid expansion, add your name to join us in calling on Kansas Republicans to work with Laura.
