Friend, yesterday I voted to establish a bipartisan, national commission to investigate the terrorist attack at the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
There must be no mistake: The people who carried out this deadly attack on our democracy were not tourists – they were domestic terrorists with a clear objective to overturn the results of a free and fair election. Every American, regardless of their political party, should be alarmed at how close this mob of insurrectionists came to undermining the democracy I, and so many others in uniform, have served to defend.
As elected leaders, my colleagues and I are entrusted with protecting our fragile democracy, and I take that responsibility extremely seriously. That's why I voted in favor of an independent commission to fully investigate this devastating attack. This is critical to protecting our democracy and ensuring nothing like the Jan. 6 insurrection ever happens again.
But my Republican colleagues continue to put party over country every chance they get – voting against this critical investigation and standing in the way of progress day in and day out. Too much is on the line right now, and I need your help:
The GOP has named me a top target, and their megadonor allies are ready to come at me with everything they've got. We need to make sure we have the resources necessary to fight back and protect our democracy. With the very future of our cherished democracy on the line, I'm counting on you to chip in just $5 or $10 now to help us get there. Please, will you join this fight now to defend PA-06 and keep the House blue?
The attack on Jan. 6 showed just how fragile our democracy really is – and how important it is that we all take action to defend it.
Thank you for joining me in this fight. There's work to be done.
Chrissy
