Folks —

For months, Donald Trump and several Republican leaders spread misinformation and lies about the validity of the 2020 presidential election in an attempt to subvert our democracy and overturn the will of the people.

Then, as members of Congress were working to faithfully carry out our constitutional duty to certify the election, we witnessed a disgraceful, violent attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6th — a tragic and unprecedented day for our nation.

Let me be perfectly clear: Donald Trump incited this violent insurrection against our democracy — and rather than condemn the attack, he encouraged it.

We know the truth, but Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy have already announced they will oppose any investigation into this attack on our democracy — effectively placing their party and their own self interests over the people they were elected to serve. It’s disgusting.

We must investigate this attack on our democracy and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. Sign my petition demanding a bipartisan January 6th Commission so we can prevent something like this from ever happening again.

I am grateful to those who stood up to protect our democracy and defend the Constitution on January 6th. And I’m thankful that you are standing by me on this critical issue.
