John, this is absolutely barbaric!

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster signed a bill requiring death row inmates to choose between the electric chair or firing squad in the absence of drugs needed to carry out lethal injections. This practice is not only exceptionally cruel, but is a clear violation of our country’s 8th Amendment, which provides protection from cruel and unusual punishment.
Capital punishment is not justice! The death penalty disproportionally affects Black men, with over 41% of death row inmates being Black. In South Carolina, 208 of the 282 people who have been executed have been Black men.
This passage of this vicious and inhumane legislation is heartbreaking. Even as states like Virginia have abolished the death penalty, South Carolina moves backward. Despite this devastating news, we will not give up hope. We can create change, but we have to mobilize now!
We are working very hard to ensure that Black voices are heard and that they have the representation that they deserve! Diverse representation will help us ensure that bills like this, never see the light of day! We can stop this but we need your help!
South Carolina Republicans have signed a bill to reinstate inhumane forms of capital punishment. Can you donate $5 right now to help us fight the GOP and abolish the death penalty?
