Middle East Conflicts Wall of Honor
This Friday, May 21, the Middle East Conflicts Wall of Honor arrives in Oswego, escorted by emergency vehicles from the Iowa state line. The Wall pays tribute to the veterans of Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Iraq and Afghanistan.?
The Middle East Conflicts Wall of Honor represents fallen heroes from 2001 through 2016 and includes the servicemen and servicewomen killed in action during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. There are now 32 panels with 104 names on each side of the panels.?Viewing the Wall of Honor is an emotional experience for many and reminds us that the price of freedom is not free.?
The Wall of Honor will be on display for the public free of charge, 24 hours a day, beginning after Opening Ceremonies, which will be held at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday at Oswego Village Hall.?
Full week of free activities for the public planned
In addition to Wall of Honor exhibit, the Oswego Honors Veterans committee has planned activities all week long leading up to Memorial Day. They include:
* *Saturday, May 22: Opening Ceremonies*, at Village Hall, 9:30 p.m. The Wall of Honor opens for public viewing following the Opening Ceremony.
* *Sunday, May 23: Car Show* at the Oswego Entertainment Venue, 1010 Station Drive (former Park N Ride lot), 11-3 p.m.
* *Tuesday, May 25: Starlifter, the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America*, concert at the Oswego Entertainment Venue,1010 Station Drive, 6-7:15 p.m.
* *Friday, May 28: Let Freedom Ring Rock N Roll Concert & Street Dance*, featuring Jason Hubbard and Whiskeyfist, on Main Street, 6-11 p.m.
* *Saturday, May 29: 144th Army Band*, concert at Veterans Serenity Park, 2 p.m.
* *Sunday, May 30: Springbrook Church's Chicagoland Pops Orchestra*, concert at Oswego Entertainment Venue, 1010 Station Drive, 7-8 p.m.
* *Monday, May 31: Memorial Day Parade*, presented by American Legion Post 675, Main Street, 10 a.m.
* *Monday, May 31: Closing Ceremonies at Village Hall*, 3 p.m.

Wolf's Crossing open to traffic following emergency repair
The Village of Oswego announced Tuesday evening that Wolf?s Crossing Road is reopened to traffic. A portion of the street between Harvey Road and U.S. Route 30 was closed on April 28, after a resident reported concerns about the condition of a culvert just east of Devoe Drive.?
Replacement of the culvert is now complete, except for some grating covering the angled end sections just south of the roadway. That grating will be installed in about one month, requiring a single lane closure that is expected to last less than one day.* Read more [ [link removed] ].*?

Village Board approves Redwood development and Fox Valley Winery's move to Main Street

On Tuesday, the Village Board approved two new developments for Oswego:
* Fox Valley Winery received approval for a special use and liquor license for its new space at 59 Main Street in Downtown Oswego. The winery will use the new space, next to Oswego Cyclery and above Oswego Brewing Co., as a tasting room and event space, as well as a bottling facility.
* Redwood Apartment Neighborhoods plans to break ground this year on 143 apartment homes at the corner of Orchard and Mill Road. The apartment homes, which are rentals styled like single-story townhomes, will all include two bedrooms, two baths, a two-car garage and on-site management and maintenance.?

On Tuesday, the Oswego Village Board recognized the winners of the 2021 Oswego Hometown Expo Art Exhibition, facilitated by the Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce and Fox River Academy of Music and Art.?
The Cultural Arts Commission launched Art at Village Hall, a rotating art exhibit that will hang twice at year in the lobby of Oswego Village Hall, this spring to celebrate our local artists and fulfill the Cultural Arts Commission?s mission of building awareness of the visual, performing and literary arts in Oswego.

Registration still open for the Community Yard Sale

The Oswego Community Yard Sale will be held Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it?s a great opportunity to clean out basements and attics in an eco-friendly way by reusing and recycling unused items.?
The cost to participate is $7 plus applicable online fees to help cover the cost of advertising the sale. The Kendall County Health Department will be hosting both?Johnson & Johnson or ?1st/ 2nd dose Moderna *walk-in COVID vaccine clinics* at 651 Prairie Point in Yorkville on the following days:

* Wednesday, May 26,?3-6 p.m.

Community Service Officer
The Village of Oswego Police Department is seeking applicants for the part-time position of Community Service Officer. The Village of Oswego offers a starting salary of $17.65 per hour for this position. CSOs perform non-criminal assignments such as completing police reports, enforcing Village ordinances, and directing traffic. This position will issue parking citations, answer questions regarding village ordinances and complete reports as needed.
