Let’s be clear about what happened on January 6th, 2021.

An extremist mob launched a violent insurrection on the U.S. Capitol. They stormed the building, talked of assassinating the Speaker of the House, hanging the Vice President, and hunting down members of Congress.

They had one goal: stop Congress from doing its constitutional duty and attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election for Donald Trump — an election that he lost.

The American people deserve to know how and why our democracy was attacked and who is responsible.

That’s why last night, the House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation to establish a January 6th Commission and get to the bottom of exactly what happened.

But the Republican establishment is already aligning itself with Donald Trump and working overtime to bury the facts. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tried to whip his caucus to oppose this bill, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has already said he’ll try to defeat its passage in the Senate.

We can’t let that happen. The American people deserve the truth.

Will you add your name to call for the swift passage of the bipartisan January 6th Commission? Americans deserve to know how and why right-wing extremists staged a violent insurrection at the heart of our democracy.
