Israel is under attack. The Jewish people need YOUR help.
1. ACTION ALERT: Oppose the efforts of Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to block the arms sales to Israel President Biden proposed.

This $735 million package is essential to defeating the onslaught of rockets that Iranian-controlled Gaza has been raining over the residents of Israel for the last 12 days. Call Congress immediately at (202) 224-3121 and tell your senators and representative TODAY that you oppose any efforts to block this critically important sale to ensure Israel’s continuous existence. This is time-sensitive!

2. KNOW THE FACTS—RESPOND TO FALSEHOODS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND IN THE NEWS

Use Your Facebook, Instagram and other social media to promote the truth.

  • Over 4,000 missiles have been launched from Hamas controlled Gaza since May 10
  • They have been firing indiscriminately, aiming at Israeli cities, communities, and towns, inflicting terror on millions of Israeli citizens
  • Hamas uses civilians to protect its rockets; Israel uses its rockets to protect its civilians
  • 12 people living in Israel have been killed including two Thai workers
  • Over 300 Israelis have been wounded

The media has distorted the underlying cause of this.

This has nothing to do with a real estate dispute over Jerusalem.

This has everything to do with Hamas’ determination to eliminate the Jewish state and eradicate Jews worldwide, as stated in the Hamas Covenant.

Hamas sent out messages early last month planning this war, long before there was any news about a residential dispute in a neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Iranian-backed Hezbollah has been lobbing missiles into Israel since Tuesday, May 18, which has opened a new battle-front on the north.

Israel is now under attack from Iranian-backed Hamas in the south and Iranian-backed Hezbollah in the north, as well as an insurrection of Israeli-Arabs from within Israel in such cities as Lod, Ramla, Jaffa and Haifa.

3. SUPPORT LEGISLATION THAT CUTS OFF FUNDING TO HAMAS AND PALESTINIAN ISLAMIC JIHAD

Representative Brian Mast (R-Fla.), a long time friend of EMET, has introduced important bipartisan legislation to cut off funding to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad: H.R. 261—The Palestinian International Terrorism Support Prevention Act of 2021.

This bill aims to cut off all funding to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, by imposing sanctions on all foreign persons or instrumentalities that assist these terror organizations that are waging war against Israel, and inflicting a reign of terror against the people of Israel.

Unfortunately, on May 19th, in a vote of 217 to 209, the vote was blocked from going to the floor. This bill had been approved unanimously in 2019, but was not taken up in the Senate.

H.R. 396—"Condemning the deadly and indiscriminate rocket attacks perpetrated against Israel by Hamas beginning the week of May 9, 2021, and expressing that the United States must continue to invest in and support Israel’s security and sovereignty” already has 90 cosponsors.

Please call your member of Congress and demand that these two important pieces of legislation get a chance to be heard and that your member supports them. You can reach your member of Congress at (202) 224-3121. If you need help contacting your member of Congress, please email [email protected].

4. DEMAND THAT YOUR LOCAL LEADERS SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE RAPIDLY GROWING SCOURGE OF ANTISEMITISM

The Middle East War has come to the streets of the United States, Canada and Europe. As a result of a massive misinformation campaign waged by Israel’s enemies, American Jews have been under attack like never before. Earlier this week, a group of people dining outside at a restaurant on Wilshire Boulevard, near the Israeli consulate in Los Angeles, were physically assaulted by a caravan of people whose vans displayed the Palestinian flag, and some were wearing Palestinian Keffiyahs. They assaulted the diners using broken glass bottles, yelling out anti-Semitic slogans.

On May 19th, Jews were violently attacked on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Tweets have flourished, encouraging people to attack Jews, such as, “decolonize this place Israel New York,” and, “Wondering what to do in solidarity in the meantime? Find Zionist targets nearby, find where those Zionist fools live and where their offices are, and act!”

Orthodox Jews, in traditional garb, (the most visible Jews ), have been viciously attacked, just for walking down the street. In Chicago a synagogue was defaced with “Freedom for Palestine” posters and a window was smashed.

Aside from contacting your federal and state officials, local law enforcement and the ADL have to know about this, to keep their records straight. Moreover, that Jews — who have been the victims of the most assaults against a religious group in the United States for years now — have got to demand that our community receives basic Constitutional protections, as other minority groups have been receiving under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.

5. DO NOT BECOME THE "NEW JEWS OF SILENCE"—ORGANIZE, PROMOTE AND ATTEND RALLIES

Anti-Israel protestors never seem to have an issue turning out huge crowds, so it’s extremely important that we do the same. Unite together with a multitude of other good organizations such Stop Antisemitism, End Jew Hatred, United Against Terrorism and StandWithUS, which have organized and publicized rallies all over North America.

If there are no rallies near you, promote other cities’ rallies on social media! Even if you can’t go, make sure that your social media friends and followers who live in cities where rallies are happening know about them. Stop Antisemitism’s Facebook page lists several rallies happening mostly in the US, with a couple in Canada and the UK. StandWithUs also sends out emails listing rallies. We must unite to protect our brothers and sisters under attack in Israel, and ourselves. If there is no rally near you, please contact your local Jewish Community Relations Council or Federation to ask that a rally be organized. Remember: In unity, there is strength!
