Hi John,
This week, the Supreme Court announced it will hear a case challenging Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to abortion. The case concerns a law in Mississippi that would ban abortions at 15 weeks – an obvious violation of Roe, which forbids states from banning abortion before fetal viability.
This case will be the first abortion case heard since the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett, which cemented a 6-3 conservative majority on the court.
Our fight is far from over. It is more important than ever that we continue to educate and mobilize to ensure everyone has access to abortion care. Not sure where to start? Check out our Self-Managed Abortion campaign.

The Reali-TEA of Fake Clinics and Abortion Pill Reversal
Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. ET
Sign-up is required.
Anti-abortion fake clinics, also known as crisis pregnancy centers, operate under the guise of providing medical care and social services so they can dissuade and mislead those seeking abortion care. We know that abortion is safe, and it’s time for anti-abortion fake clinics to stop shaming people in our communities for their reproductive choices.
Join us for a teach-in where we’ll show you everything you need to know to expose fake clinics in your community!
This training will help you learn how to identify anti-abortion fake clinics, understand so-called ‘abortion pill reversal’, and provide tips for how you can take action in your community. We will talk about the impact anti-abortion misinformation has on health care access, policy and our communities. Participants are welcome to bring their own questions.
Sign-up is required, register now.

This is the last chance to see the film with us, so don’t forget to sign up!
Self-Care
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for May:
-
Grow something! A plant from seedlings, long nails for a statement manicure, or a healthy bacteria, even (sourdough starters are NOT 'so last year'!) I recently started making my own kombucha & I marvel at the power of microorganisms to transform our food, bodies, and world. - Shireen, deputy director based in Washington, DC
-
Learn how to say "no." This is something that I struggle with, but I'm learning that it's okay – and necessary – to protect your peace, energy, and time. Let go of the notion that saying "no" is mean, bad or careless, and try to let go of the guilt associated with it. Practice saying no. Know that saying no is an act of self-love and care. - Nataley, organizer based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
-
Bring it back to the basics! Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with all of the different things that are advertised as self care: the right face mask, the right yoga video, a special tea, or whatever trend is popular from TikTok. But my favorite way to recalibrate with my needs is to focus on the basics: eating, sleeping, drinking water, and community. It might seem and feel silly because so much of that is our basic needs, but how much more fun will that Tik Tok trend, or new face mask be when your body has the fuel and love to enjoy it. - Ten, campaign coordinator based in Greensboro, North Carolina
See you next month!
