We all know the truth.

After weeks of spreading lies and misinformation about an election he clearly lost, Donald Trump and a number of my Republican colleagues incited a mob to storm the United States Capitol as lawmakers worked to confirm the presidential election.

This act of terror on our democracy was unprecedented and we need a bipartisan 9/11 style commission to investigate the causes of the January 6 riot so we can hold those responsible accountable and prevent something like this from ever happening again.

But Republican minority leaders Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell just announced they are opposing any sort of January 6 Commission.

It’s unconscionable that these elected officials would put politics over country — and it’s clear they want to be absolved of any responsibility or accountability for their actions.

We cannot allow Republican cowardice to bury the truth. Sign my petition demanding a bipartisan January 6 Commission so we can get to the root of the insurrection on the Capitol. [[link removed]]
