Mental Health Matters
May Is Mental Health Awareness Month
Mental health matters, especially for survivors of trauma. This month, we're highlighting Revive, Doorways' counseling program. Revive therapists provide counseling services to address domestic violence and sexual assault. We serve children, youth, and adults of all ages and genders.

Revive services are designed to provide short-term, trauma-focused therapy to survivors and their family members of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Children's services include art and play therapy, highlighted here. Check out our Instagram to learn more!
In the News │ How Doorways Helps
How and When Parents Should Talk to their Kids About Consent
"It's important to emphasize to kids the importance of trusting their instincts.

For example, if they don't want to hug a family member, to trust that instinct rather than overriding that with what they're told is the polite thing to do."
How Doorways Empowers Youth to Have Healthier Relationships
Doorways’ Prevention Program uses educational programming such as virtual workshops to promote a community culture of safe and healthy relationships so that sexual and intimate partner violence are less likely to occur, especially in marginalized populations.
How Your Body Remembers Trauma
"All this is because trauma has a powerful impact on the nervous system. We’re all familiar with the fight-or-flight responses to stress that help us either battle or bolt from an enemy, but a traumatic event ramps this up to an extreme level. Later, as you remember the situation or if there are ongoing incidents (e.g., seeing an abusive boss every day), the body revs back up, which can lead to inflammation and other damage."
How Doorways Helps Survivors Heal
