The 2020 Election has come and gone, but in Arizona, GOP extremists continue to tell baseless lies to question its integrity and outcome. They’re conducting a sham “Election Audit” just this week.

All of this while people continue to suffer during the pandemic. It’s not just outrageous, it’s dangerous. Among the long list of harmful consequences we’re seeing — including undermining our democracy — is over a year and a half of harassment directed at election officials, including Emerge alum, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.

No one should receive death threats for doing their job, and while the Arizona GOP is set on making a mockery of fair, secure, historic, and accurate elections, Secretary Hobbs is holding the line for our democracy. This is the impact Emerge alums in elected office have in their communities.

Elected officials, like Secretary Hobbs, who are willing to stand up and do the right thing, are crucial to a functioning democracy.
