Economics for Beginners is our continuing series of short animated videos designed to help students of all ages begin to think like an economist.
[link removed] next installment takes a look at the prevailing ideology of the West today: progressivism. Can a class of specially educated elites successfully regulate a complex economy? No, but unfortunately that doesn't stop them from trying.
In this video, we highlight the consequences of economic intervention, whether the motivation is self-interested cronyism or progressive social justice. Ultimately, the result is the same: the growth of a costly and authoritarian state.
In the words of Ludwig von Mises, "The 'progressives' who today masquerade as 'liberals' may rant against 'fascism'; yet it is their policy that paves the way for Hitlerism."
If you haven't yet checked out Economics for Beginners, you can do so at BeginEconomics.org ([link removed]) . These short animated videos cover core economic topics, highlighting how economic decisions are a part of our day-to-day life. Thus far we have covered the following topics:
* What Is Economics?
* What is Cost?
* What Is Money?
* What Is Profit?
* What Is Capitalism?
* What Is Cronyism?
* What Is Socialism?
* What Is Progressivism?
Perfect for parents looking to supplement their child's economics education at home or adults looking to broaden their understanding of economics, the series includes discussion questions and additional readings that will ensure no one is fooled by the road to serfdom.
Thank you to everyone who has watched and shared the series so far, the response has been both inspiring and rewarding.
Special thanks to James Kluttz for making this project possible.
