** Good news!
------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you to everyone who has contacted their Members of Assembly to vote YES on A3394, known as "Laura Wooten's Law". We expect this to pass and have been working hard to support this legislation. This law "requires civics instruction in middle school; authorizes New Jersey Center for Civic Education to provide curricula, professional development and technical assistance for middle and high school civics." It's part of our work this year under our quest to increase youth participation in our democracy.

Who is Laura Wooten? Well, she is really an icon, an everyday shero. She passed away in 2019 and has the distinction of being the longest serving poll worker in New Jersey history. For 79 years, and even during times when schools were segregated, Ms. Wooten would serve at her local polling station every year, often waking up at 4 am to prepare and not being done until polls closed at 8pm.

It's dedicated public servants like Ms. Wooten that we dedicate ourselves to also serve. Thank you, again, to all who helped by calling their legislators.

** Bad news!
------------------------------------------------------------

An unpatriotic group of 175 Republicans voted NO to form a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6th Capitol Attack. Only 35 Republicans crossed the aisle to vote. This is why we need you to stay engaged and to help us. It wasn’t just a group of tourists.

We will continue to support elected officials to stand up and who fight to protect our democracy. We are working to have postcard initiatives coming up soon. A schedule of initiatives will help those who need to budget their time and money for stamps. We are working to plan and to organize all that.
