I am sick and tired of Republicans spreading misinformation and harming Americans in the process. This time around, Kevin McCarthy and Marco Rubio are leading the GOP’s charge to end people's unemployment benefits – all while our economy is still recovering and millions are out of work.

Their reasoning? They claim extended unemployment benefits are keeping people from returning to work. This is a right-wing talking point that's completely false – it's been disproven by study after study.

What the American people want is to work – and they deserve to work in a job with dignity, one that will allow them to get ahead and stay ahead. 

This push from Kevin McCarthy, Marco Rubio and their allies will pull the rug out from under people when many families still need a lifeline to stay afloat through no fault of their own. It's just further proof of how out of touch the GOP is, and it's why we must protect our majority in Congress and keep delivering bold progress for the American people. 

Our razor-thin majority is the only reason we were able to pass the American Rescue Plan, which put much-needed relief in the hands of working families, after it didn't get a single Republican vote. We need to fight with everything we have to defend our majority – and that work starts now.
