Happy Hour with YR's and Speaker TPPF's Dr. Richard Johnson III Socialize and talk policy with other Republicans. Our meetings aren't just dry affairs with policy discussion. We always have a good time too. But why should *YOU* go? Engaging Camaraderie. God knows we can't talk politics at work because HR is horrible. Most of our normal friends just aren't that interested. That's why we get together and talk shop over a beer or two. Socializing begins at 6:30 during happy hour and we call proceedings to order approximately 7:00 to 7:15. We were all newcomers at some point in time, we're friendly, it's free, and we don't mind when people drag their friends along. You don't even have to be young or a Republican to attend. Insightful Speakers. We haven't had a boring speaker since 2018, and the Q&A afterward is a great way to learn about the nuts and bolts of politics and policy. Dr. Johnson - a selfless, compassionate, and dedicated man - works for the premier state policy organization, the Texas Public Policy Foundation. He and his Booker T. Washington Initiative offer unique insights into racial issues so fractious to our public discourse. Free appetizers. Younger people are famous grifters and cheapskates: Y'all need incentives and a display of open friendship, thus have some quesadillas, pub fare, and maybe even some hot wings on us. We booted the key freeloader so there's goodies for everyone. Cool venue. Christian's Tailgate in the Heights is great! It's not some stuffy restaurant like baby boomers meet at. Tuesdays are taco night with good drink specials. There are standard bar games, arcade games, and ESPN. That Sweet Sweet Serotonin: Top research psychologists and most clinical psychologists agree: Socializing once a week and engaging in fulfilling activities help lead to mental wellbeing. For political minded people, why not do both at once? Flex on Social Media: Let your facebook friends know that you don't care what those liberal weirdos think by sharing the event page! Every year, we head to the Houston's National Memorial Cemetery to place flags on the graves of our nation's heroes in conjunction with hundreds of other volunteers. We are looking for 10-12 HYR members to come help out, but they aren't gonna turn down extra help. Bring a ruler and a screwdriver or another long, sturdy object to make holes to put flags into, and show up before the thing kicks off at 0900 hrs. 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038 Please register as going on our event page here.
