John: D.C. taxpayers overwhelmingly want and deserve representation at the federal level - and we finally have a real chance to make it happen for 700,000 residents. The House just passed a historic measure approving D.C. statehood, and the White House made it clear President Biden supports it, too.

But Senate Republicans continue to oppose D.C. statehood for purely political reasons - putting fair representation for D.C. residents up for grabs.
