Dear John:
Healthcare workers have always put themselves in harms way to care for their community. Over 73% of workplace violence is directed at healthcare workers. This can be seen now more than ever due to the toxic polarization of the issues surrounding the pandemic. That is why earlier this year I reintroduced H.R. 1195, the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act.
Just last month this bipartisan bill, supported by numerous healthcare workers associations, was voted through the House with a strong majority. I've worked hard to build bipartisan support for this effort and break through the partisan gridlock to get this done. I'm proud of our results so far and will keep fighting to move this bill forward.
Please read my recent op ed in the CT Mirror. [[link removed]] This bill has the support of the President and I hope the Senate will follow the House’s lead to prevent workplace violence on healthcare and frontline workers.
Please stand with me to protect the lives of those who protect ours.
Thanks as always for your continued support.
