Critical Race Theory Is Being Institutionalized Throughout America <[link removed]> – The Biden administration is making critical race theory our official state ideology. Its Department of Education has proposed prioritizing grants for courses that use critical race theory. President Joe Biden signed into law a loan forgiveness program that can be used by any farmer, except those who are white. Clearly, we have returned to color-conscious government policymaking for the first time since passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. At this point we must ask: “Are we rushing into
dismantling the most prosperous, freest, most fair society in history because of vague and woolly premises that fail to stand up to scrutiny?” Heritage expert: Mike Gonzalez <[link removed]>
Over Legal Objections, Biden Moves to Reinstate Family Planning Funds for Abortion Providers <[link removed]> – Title X of the Public Health Service
Act is clear: Funds may not “be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.” The Biden administration’s justification for allowing commingling of Title X programs and physical and financial resources related to abortion is woefully deficient. Furthermore, the proposed rule contradicts long-standing civil rights law
protecting rights of conscience. The Trump administration’s 2019 Protect Life rule rightly sought to uphold what the law requires with respect to good stewardship of taxpayer dollars and freedom of conscience by preventing the government from compelling speech. The Biden administration should not infringe
upon fundamental freedoms by revising these important policies. Heritage expert: Melanie Israel <[link removed]>
Republican Study Committee Budget Would Reclaim America’s Fiscal Future <[link removed]> – In addition to preventing tax increases due to the
expiration of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the budget proposes to permanently provide for full and immediate expensing of most business investments, accelerate depreciation, and provide neutral cost recovery for construction expenses, index capital gains taxes for inflation, and end the death tax. The House GOP group’s budget also endorses the
creation of Universal Savings Accounts, which would eliminate double taxation on savings, allowing individuals and families to build personal rainy-day funds. It’s no small feat to draft a complete budget proposal. Indeed, the Republican Study Committee’s budget is currently the only such proposal introduced in this Congress. It’s an impressive plan that includes many important policy proposals. Perhaps most significantly, it would help reclaim America’s fiscal future. Heritage expert: Frederico Bartels <[link removed]>
