On Monday May 17, we reached Step 3 of the Government?s roadmap.
Thank you to all our local businesses who have welcomed back customers, brought the bustling vibe Nottingham is known for back to our streets even with the current restrictions in place.?
Whilst Nottingham City Council encourages people to enjoy taking the next step, it is important everyone does this with caution so further steps out of lockdown can be taken towards the end of June.
We?are encouraging businesses in Nottingham to ensure their employees keep as safe as possible by:
- Continue following Covid measures including Hands, Face, Space and Fresh Air,
- Taking a Covid test twice a week to help stop the spread ? for more information please visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/coronavirus-covid-19/get-a-covid-19-test
- Getting vaccinated when eligible
- Take a cautious approach to Step 3 of the roadmap, by keeping windows open indoors, wearing a mask in cars, and staying outdoors if the weather allows.
If you have a noticeboard, daily briefings?or an?email distribution for your employees, please share these important messages.

Nottingham City Council is working with the BID and Visit Nottinghamshire on a marketing campaign to encourage people to return to the city safely, advertising what Nottingham has to offer - including shopping, tourism, leisure, sport and more. You will begin to see the artwork above popping up round the city on the Council House, bus shelters, lamppost banners and on social media as part of a wider campaign to support your businesses by getting people to return to the high street.
The campaign is funded by the Welcome Back Fund, which is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund and HM Government to support the country's economic recovery during the Covid pandemic.
It is still a legal requirement for businesses to display a QR code poster somewhere visitors can see it and scan it when they arrive at your premises, for example next to the entrance, and ask customers to scan the code using the NHS Covid-19 app. An alternative should still be supplied in the event customers do not have the NHS Covid-19 app and held at the premises in the event Track and Trace identifies that staff or customers may have come into contact with someone with Covid-19.
You can check if your premises requires a QR code on the NHS website and create your own on Gov.UK
Community Protection and the City Council's Environmental Health teams are out and about doing spot checks during the reopening of the high street and will be working with businesses to ensure they remain compliant of the law around QR codes.
