Matt Gaetz seems to think that the right to a fair trial means he can investigate himself -- and Kevin McCarthy and his followers agree. Letting Gaetz continue to serve on the House Judiciary Committee, which has oversight over the Department of Justice, is a huge conflict of interest.



While Gaetz is entitled to the presumption of innocence, he does not have the right to oversee his own investigation.

Joel Greenberg, Gaetz’s associate, has agreed to cooperate, which requires him to tell the DOJ everything he knows. It is improper for Gaetz to continue to serve on the committee that provides oversight of the Department.
