Mitch McConnell just announced his opposition to forming a January 6 Commission, shamefully joining Kevin McCarthy in attempting to deny the truth, justice, and accountability for this deadly attack on our seat of government.

And just minutes ago, 175 Republicans in the House voted against forming a bipartisan commission. Honestly, it leaves me speechless.

Much of what happened on January 6 and in its aftermath is in plain sight: Donald Trump incited a violent insurrection that shook our democracy to its core, diminished our global standing, and further elevated the Big Lie which has spurred an all-out assault on voting rights across the country.

Republicans enabled Trump’s dereliction of duty. Now, they’re doing everything possible to stop a January 6 Commission to cover up their wrongdoing. We cannot let them avoid accountability and erase this dark chapter of our nation’s history. We just can’t.
