Team -- President Biden has announced the American Families Plan, a bold proposal that includes transformative investments in our children, our families, and our future.

I couldn’t be more excited, y’all.

This ambitious plan will ensure that we build a post-COVID economy that leaves NO ONE behind. This bill will grow and strengthen the middle class by helping families afford basic expenses like child care, education, and health care. Getting the American Families Plan enacted this Congress is a moral and economic imperative! We cannot wait one more day to make America more competitive by investing in our strongest asset -- our people!

Here are some of the things I’m most excited for in the American Families Plan:

• Lower tax rates for middle class families -- no federal income tax for those making less than $75K a year
• Universal high-quality preschool to all three and four year olds
• Two years of free community college
• College affordability resources for low and middle income students, including HBCU students
• A national comprehensive paid family and medical leave program
• Extension of the health insurance tax credits in the American Rescue Plan
• Extension of the American Rescue Plan’s tax cuts for workers and families, including the Child Tax Credit, the Earned Income Tax Credit, and the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit

While National Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to protect the tax windfalls they gave their corporate buddies back in 2017, Democrats are fighting for American families because we believe that the cards have been stacked against working folks and struggling families for too long -- which is why we need your help to push the American Families Plan through.

President Biden is delivering on his promise to Build Back Better and this proposal will help so many families across the country -- especially here at home in the 7th District of Alabama.

American families need support right now. I’ve heard from so many Alabamians about how the pandemic has affected them and their neighbors financially. This plan lays out the path to an equitable future -- a future that everyone in Alabama’s 7th District deserves.

I’m going to work diligently with the President and my colleagues in Congress to put the American Families plan in action, but I need to know that I have your support.
