At our Assembly on Sunday, champions for progressive reform Melanie Stansbury, Julia Salazar, and Puya Gerami will be speaking with WFP National Director Maurice Mitchell about their work to invest in our communities by taxing the rich.
John,
This Sunday, May 23 at 8:00 PM EDT/5:00 PM PDT, we’re coming together for the WFP Assembly, our monthly virtual gathering where we recommit ourselves to each other and the movement.
WFP Assemblies typically take place on the last Sunday of every month, but this month we’re coming together one week early to give folks the opportunity to rest and spend Memorial Day weekend with loved ones.
On this month’s Assembly, we’ll be joined by NM Congressional candidate Melanie Stansbury, NY State Senator Julia Salazar, and CT Recovery for All Coalition Coordinator Puya Gerami to talk about how we can recover from the pandemic and reinvest in our communities by making the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share in taxes. Click here to RSVP, and we’ll send you the link to join.
The COVID-19 pandemic made clearer than ever the deep economic inequality and injustice we face. Poor and working-class people suffered, while the rich saw their stock portfolios explode as they rode out the pandemic from their yachts and country houses.

We’ll also be discussing Melanie Stansbury’s campaign for New Mexico’s First Congressional District, and how you can get plugged in before the special election on June 1st.
