I'm the most vulnerable incumbent Senate Democrat up for reelection next year, and I need your help: While I'm fighting in the Senate to defend voting rights and deliver on our progressive priorities, extremist Republicans are doing everything they can to enact shameful voter suppression laws, smear me with baseless attacks and reclaim Georgia's critical Senate seat. 

Here's why: Experts at POLITICO say that Democrats' chances of defending our razor-thin majority hinge on keeping Georgia blue. This race will decide Senate control. But while the GOP has millions to spend to try and buy this seat – and a new anti-voting law to try and steal it – we're running a people-powered campaign that relies on grassroots support. And unfortunately, with time running out before our crucial membership deadline, we're falling incredibly short of our Democracy Defender goal.

So I'm personally reaching out to ask for your help today. I need 5,000 more people to join me on the front lines of this fight to protect my seat by becoming Democracy Defenders by tomorrow at midnight – and I'm counting on you to be one of them: Please, will you give $5 or more right now so we can keep Georgia and the Senate blue – and fuel our people-powered movement to defend voting rights?

As a kid who grew up in public housing, I know what it's like to be counted out before you even get started. But through hard work and the support of my family and community, I was able to graduate from college and went on to become the senior pastor at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s church. Now, I'm proudly serving as the first Black senator in Georgia's history.

But here's the deal: With the Senate split 50-50, Republicans need to flip only ONE seat to retake control – and NBC News confirms that they're coming after me as a top target for defeat. 

That's why we have to fight back now – and it's why falling short of important goals like this isn't an option. Because if we fail to keep Georgia blue, Mitch McConnell will be back calling the shots and obstructing our Democratic agenda at every turn.

Our democracy is at stake – and not only is Georgia ground zero for the GOP-led assault on voting rights, but the battle for Senate control will be won or lost here, friend.
