We have huge news: the House of Representatives just passed the bill to establish a bipartisan, independent commission to investigate the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol! And despite strong opposition from GOP leaders and former President Trump, the bill passed with broad bipartisan support — 35 Republicans voting in favor.

Issue One and our National Council on Election Integrity have spent months advocating on Capitol Hill for a January 6th commission. Today’s vote is a critical step forward toward understanding what happened that day, how it happened, and what can be done to ensure it never happens again.

We won today because of you. You sent emails and made calls. You provided crucial support to help with our digital ad buy. Together we built the support to make this victory possible.

Next up: the bill heads to the Senate. We have lots of work to do, but together, we can win this and get a truthful and objective account about the January 6th attack and what can be done to bolster our democracy and its institutions in the future.
