Kris Kobach just announced his bid for the GOP nomination in Kansas’ AG race. Here’s what that means for us.
“... the right Democrat could actually win this office.” — Kansas City Star, on Kris Kobach’s unfitness for office.
Huge news, friend: The AG race in Kansas just became a lot more competitive.
ICYMI, current Attorney General Derek Schmidt (R-KS) is stepping down, and Kris Kobach just launched his bid for the Republican nomination – to unanimous backlash.
Even GOP leaders, including U.S. Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS), predict Kobach will be unelectable, and we’ve got a rare opportunity to turn this deep-red seat blue – and elect someone who will finally do right by Kansans.
This office has been under GOP control for ten long years, under Derek Schmidt – a right-winger who recently sued four swing states to overturn the 2020 election. The last thing Kansans needs is another pro-Trump exremist holding this much power over their rights and freedoms.
Unfortunately, Kobach is one of Trump’s loudest, proudest henchmen, a credential he’s used to power multiple failed campaigns. He’s also gained notoriety for serving as the director of “We Build The Wall”, which crumbled under wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges.
Aside from that, Kobach has spearheaded extremist anti-immigration policy, led Trump’s short-lived voter fraud commission, and faced judicial sanctions over attempts to pass an outrageous voter suppression law.
Kobach is a loose cannon who embodies the hateful and reckless actions of the Trump administration. Our democracy can’t afford a Kobach victory, and if 2020 taught us anything, it’s this: There are no “uncompetitive” red states, and we have to give our all to every single race.
