Salem, OR—Over four years ago, Oregon Right to Life made the decision to get more involved in local school board races.

“We felt it was important to engage in school board elections because Planned Parenthood was bringing the abortion agenda to schools,” says Lois Anderson, ORTL executive director. “We saw it happen in Hillsboro and Salem-Keizer. Schools shouldn’t be about partisan politics. Our students deserve a safe environment for learning. The abortion agenda doesn’t belong in our schools. “We’ve never committed to school board races like this,” continued Anderson. “We endorsed 50 pro-life men and women across the state. These community members recognized the need for life-affirming voices on their local school board. As of today, 21 pro-life candidates won their elections, with several races still too close to call.”

The ORTL PAC team continued to contact pro-life voters across Oregon in every way possible until the final moments of the election. This included launching grassroots door-to-door outreach, connecting with 3,000 households.
