For almost 50 years, the Supreme Court has protected reproductive rights and ensured access to safe abortions. As Attorney General, I have continued to stand up against efforts to limit access to abortions and to undermine Roe v. Wade.
When I ran to serve as Attorney General, I promised to fight for Roe v. Wade if the Supreme Court decided to reconsider this crucial precedent. On Monday, the Court agreed to hear such a challenge next fall. The day we have long feared is coming.
When it comes to women’s control over their bodies and decisions about reproductive health care, the government should not decide such issues for women. And when it comes to the question of whether to protect access to legal and safe abortions, we cannot allow our nation to go back to an era of back alley abortions. That is what is now before the Court.
I am committed to the important work of defending Roe v. Wade, and I appreciate your support in helping me do so. Thanks for being on my team.
