My wife and I are both educators -- she teaches elementary school and I am the founding principal of a community school in the Northeast Bronx. Like all educators, we face incredibly daunting challenges every day. We work with children and families who suffer with poverty, environmental injustice, homlessness, lack of healthcare, and lack of opportunity. The goal is simple: strengthen our community with everything they need to succeed.

I’m running to unseat Rep. Elliot Engel, because in his 30 years in Congress, he’s shown time and again that he’s all-too-willing to put donors above the needs of his community. He voted for the war in Iraq, deregulating Wall Street, school privatization and even supported the disastrous Crime Bill. I am trying to build a team that can take on the special interests that keep things the way they are in our community and in our country.

It’s time to build a new America -- an America that taps into its unlimited potential, a new American that leverages the brilliance of children and people from diverse backgrounds. That's why I am proud to join the slate of Brand New Congress candidates for 2020.
