John,

Of the many lies that the gun lobby peddles, perhaps none is greater than the myth of a “good guy with a gun.”

In reality, armed “good guys” often make a bad situation even more lethal. They’re likely to lack the training and expertise needed for a high-stakes situation. That’s why data shows that guns are far more often used in criminal homicides than in justifiable acts of self-defense.

We know why the gun lobby pushes this false narrative: it helps sell guns.

The gun lobby wants us to believe that adding more guns is the solution to gun violence. They want us to believe that by simply carrying a firearm, someone magically becomes on the same footing as a trained police officer, SWAT member, or special forces operator. But this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Over the next few days, we’ll share information, data, and stories to help bust this myth when you hear it next.
We’re doing everything we can to push back on the dangerous narratives the NRA pushes.

If you agree that we need to push back on these myths, can you please consider a contribution today? [[link removed]]
