The American Rescue Plan (ARP), signed into law by President Biden in March to rebuild from the pandemic, made health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) more affordable and limited what families have to pay out of pocket for insurance premiums. But these cost controls only last two years.

It’s time to take the next bold steps in expanding healthcare access to millions of Americans by making these critical improvements permanent.

Join Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund and our allies in calling on Congress to expand healthcare access to millions more Americans while capping how much people pay for insurance.

The ARP’s reforms to make health insurance more affordable would lead about 4.5 million people to gain coverage. Another 4 million uninsured low-income adults, including 640,000 essential or front-line workers, could get healthcare through incentives offered to 14 states that have not yet implemented the ACA’s Medicaid expansion.[1] If these 14 states continue to refuse Medicaid expansion, it’s up to Congress to extend health coverage to millions of uninsured adults.

The ARP boosted tax credits that lower the cost of health insurance premiums―eliminating them or reducing their cost for millions of Americans. But those tax credits expire next year. It’s time to permanently expand the Affordable Care Act health subsidies for working families.

As Congress prepares to act on President Biden’s calls for a massive tax and investment plan, it’s critical that we take historic steps to expand healthcare access and make healthcare more affordable for millions of Americans. Sign the petition today >>

Under President Biden’s proposed jobs, fair tax and investment plans, the cost of providing these ACA tax credits to help 4.5 million people afford healthcare is about $200 billion over 10 years. That’s far less than the $900 billion that Biden proposes to raise from increasing the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%.[2]
