Fellow Young Democrat,

Tonight we are prepping for the 2021 Indiana Young Democrats Virtual Convention. At the convention, we will gather as members of IYD and renew our pledge to increase engagement amongst young voters and elect more young Democrats to office. We will have training sessions to prepare us to lead in our own communities across the state and hear from game-changers making a difference in our political atmosphere. We will also elect our officers for the 2021-23 term. In order to register, you must be a dues-paying member of IYD, so c lick here if you haven't paid your annual dues yet! If you haven't had the chance, be sure to also join one of our constituency caucuses before the convention!

Monthly Executive Committee Meetings are set through this June! Meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month (pro-tip: that's today!).

Join us as we discuss some of the plans for our 2021 Virtual Convention. We will talk about caucus elections, executive board elections, and some of the training sessions we are considering.

RUN FOR CAUCUS LEADERSHIP

On June 25th, 2021, Indiana Young Democrats will hold elections for Constituency Caucus Executive positions. Completion and submission of this form will officially declare your candidacy for the position and caucus you file for.

The deadline to file is Friday, June 18, 2021.

IYD maintains the following caucuses:
- Black Caucus
- LGBTQ Caucus
- Women’s Caucus
- Hispanic Caucus
- Labor Caucus
- Environmental Caucus
- Faith-Based Caucus

Open Positions:
-Chair
-Vice Chair
-Secretary
-Treasurer

These are caucuses that help Indiana Young Democrats engage with bases of particular voters. Each caucus can operate independently to IYD, lead by the Caucus Chair. Chairs will sit on the Executive Committee as a voting member.

As an organization, we rely on you as a member and our supporters in order to fight for young Democrats across the state. Simply submit an easy $5 for the year to keep your IYD membership up-to-date.

Note: In order to be eligible to vote during the convention this coming summer, you must be a dues-paying member.

EMERGING LEADERS PROJECT

The Emerging Leaders Project is dedicated to developing the next generation of Hoosier Democrats. The goal of the Emerging Leaders Project is to build the bench of future Democratic Party candidates, party leaders, campaign staffers and activists in Indiana by providing networking opportunities and free training in various aspects of campaign management, public policy and party building.

The Emerging Leaders Project accepts applications each year from May 1st through June 15th. Applicants are notified via email by the end of August.

HOOSIER WOMEN FORWARD

Hoosier Women Forward is a political and civic leadership program designed to prepare Democratic women to assume a position of leadership in public service. Each year, a group of outstanding Democratic women will be selected through a competitive application process to participate in a nine-month leadership training program. Applications go live each year in May and HWF accepts no more than 24 women. Through a combination of study, field experience, and networking, Hoosier Women Forward participants will gain valuable political leadership training that will prepare them to become more informed, active and mindful public servants.

The general application form and the $25 application fee must be received by Wednesday, June 23 at 5:00pm Eastern time.
